Pineapple Sausage Kebabs Recipe

pineapple sausage kebabs on the grill

These Pineapple Sausage Kebabs are a delicious meal on a stick. Savory smoked sausage with red peppers, sweet pineapple it’s sure to be one of your new favorites.

Where people go wrong with kebabs is combining meats, vegetables, and fruits that all have different cooking times.

This recipe uses ingredients that cook for the same amount of time:

Beef kielbasa (found with the deli meats at the grocery store), colorful veggies, and sweet, juicy pineapple drizzled in a sweet and tangy pineapple barbecue sauce.

If you’re using wooden skewers, soak them in cold water for 30-minutes before starting, to prevent them from burning or catching on fire.

I love these sausage skewers because they offer great flavor and are a quick dinner option.

They also make an easy and fun tailgating recipe or grilling season main dish.

How to Make Pineapple Sausage Kebabs

Wipe grill grates with vegetable oil to prevent sticking.

Preheat grill–400 degrees is the sweet spot for the temperature.

You may opt to cover your grill grates with aluminum foil.

Working with one kebab stick at a time, alternate kielbasa pieces, red bell peppers, zucchini slices, pineapple chunks, and red onion pieces until each stick is full.

In a small bowl, combine pineapple juice, soy sauce, and barbeque sauce.

Brush the kebabs with the sauce, saving half of it for basting during grilling.

Place the skewers on the hot grill and cook for 4 minutes. Gently turn the kebabs over, brush sauce on them, and cook for 4 minutes more. Kebabs are done when the kielbasa is heated through and the vegetable edges are slightly charred.

Remix Tips:

Stack layers of the onion together to make a thickness of about 1/4-inch pieces for best grilling.

Fresh pineapple will offer the kebabs the best-grilled taste, however, you can use canned pineapple chunks.

I make it even easier and purchase the pre-cut fresh pineapple in the produce section of my grocery store.

If you aren’t into sausage, try making these as veggie skewers–it’s a delicious lighter option.

Use wooden skewers, bamboo skewers, metal skewers, whatever you have works just fine.

If you don’t have grill access, preheat the oven to broil. Line a baking sheet with aluminum foil and spray it lightly with nonstick cooking spray.

Skewer the kebabs and place them on the prepared baking sheet.

Put the sheet on the top rack of the oven under the broiler for 5 minutes.

Turn the kebabs and broil for 5 more minutes.
